My doctor gasped when she told me my Vitamin D level was 5 ng/ml. I've been taking 50,000 units once a week for a month and I don't feel any better!

I had been diagnosed with a deficiency 3 months ago. My level was a 26 and my doctor said to get it above 30.
I've been taking the prescribed vit d 3, 1,000 iu's per day plus and added multivit (400 iu) and sometimes a second D3 (1000 iu).
I still have aching in all of my joints.
Is it normal to take so long to feel better?
Thank you.

How Long for Vitamin D Deficiency Symptoms to Go Away?
I'm 42 and just started taking CaltratePlus (3 days ago) after the doctor told me my d level is low. My blood sugar drops and I feel very lightheaded. I was wondering how long before my blood sugar regulates and this lightheaded feeling goes away.
Could these be symptoms of the vitamin D deficiency?

Answer:
I've answered this question many times and I'll refer you to those pages.
When will vitamin d make me feel better.
And even though your question is slightly different, the answer is the same. It 'depends' upon a lot of factors, namely:
1) How much you are taking
2) The many factors of Vitamin D Absorption including the Vitamin D and Magnesium connection that most people are not aware of
3) Whether you are getting Vitamin D from Sun
4) Whether you are taking Prescription Vitamin D (I hope not) or regular Vitamin D Supplements (I hope so)
5) What level you are attempting to get it to. The Normal Vitamin D Level may not be what you think it is.
So, there is no one answer to that. It's different for everyone...
