Hmmm. I'm confused too...

Hi Jim,

More About Vitamin D

Well, unfortunately the results that you showed me are NOT vitamin d levels. They are 1,25 di hydroxyvitamin d levels- which are NOT the vitamin d levels that you (and me) are wanting to know about.

You want to know what your 25, hydroxyvitamin D Level is.

Could you check on the lab slip and see if that is on there also, please?

And you may or may not need to be concerned about a high 1,25 OH D level. It is a marker of altered calcium metabolism and yours is just the TINYEST bit above normal, but you should DEFINITELY ask for a Calcium Level (it would say Ca++ or just Ca on the lab report) and possibly even a parathyroid hormone level drawn.

But since your 1,25 di hydroxy level is slightly abnormal, then you DEFINITELY need to have a Vitamin D Level done because an abnormal Vitamin D level COULD be one of the contributing factors to an altered calcium metabolism.

As far as your MS is concerned, it's a SHAME that no one had thought to get a vitamin D level before now because their is SO MUCH EVIDENCE relating low vitamin d levels as maybe even one of the PRIMARY CAUSES of Multiple Sclerosis. Read my page about MS and Vitamin D.

And I'm SOOOO glad that LDN is working for you. I am a BIG fan and wish that doctors were more award of it.

High Vitamin D Levels

I would need to know a little bit more to be able to answer your question because just like the person who started this thread who thought that his "Vitamin D Level" was high, I SUSPECT that your 1,25 OH D level is high.

While that is also called a "Vitamin D Level", that is really a measure of calcium metabolism and NOT Vitamin D Status.

So, find out WHAT Vitamin D Level was high and what the number is, and I'll be able to help you better.
