Low Vitamin D blood levels by: Kerri Knox, RN- The Immune Queen
Hi John,
I wouldn't exactly say that your Vitamin D blood level is "bad". It's TERRIFIC that you are finding this out now!
But "YES", it is very low and hopefully you are taking aggressive measures to bring it up to the "Optimal" recommended numbers of 50-80 ng/ml and not just the "normal" levels that are on the laboratory sheets- usually about 30 ng/ml.
Researchers have found that truly healthy people who spend time in the sun have much higher Vitamin D levels than the 'normal' levels on laboratory sheets. One researcher, Dr. Cedric Garland, estimates that 75% of breast and colon cancer can be prevented if EVERYONE had their Vitamin D Levels up into this 'Optimal Range' of 50-80 ng/ml of Vitamin D!
That's 75% of breast and colon cancer eliminated by higher Vitamin D levels!
So, really- we KNOW this information, so make sure that you have your Vitamin D Deficiency treated aggressively and that you get your Vitamin D Level Checked again in 3 to 4 months to make sure that the amount of Vitamin D that you are getting is sufficient to bring your levels up- often it is NOT!
