Vitamin D and Tinnitus

Does any one know if Tinnitus and Vitamin D deficiency have a correlation? I have had tinnitus for about a year and all the doctors keep saying there is no cure. But I just found out that I have low Vit D (22) from the test. I wonder if this deficiency could help cure or reduce it. Any info on this would be great.

Tinnitus and magnesium...

Hi John,

Actually, tinnitus is frequently due to magnesium deficiency. Please read my page on Magnesium and Vitamin D to see why taking vitamin d can actually deplete magnesium- which could actually make your tinnitus worse if you don't take precautions to take magnesium with your Vitamin D- and in fact, I would 'pre treat' with magnesium as outlined on my Magnesium Dosage page for a couple of weeks before starting your vitamin d therapy in order to try to 'saturate' your tissues before taking vitamin d.

Also, please read my page on Age Related Hearing Loss. While tinnitus isn't really 'age related hearing loss' the principle is very similar and many of the solutions are the same- ESPECIALLY magnesium.
