Bowel problems and Vitamin D... by: Kerri Knox, RN- The Immune Queen!
Well, there is a lot going on there and I don't really know where to start. But first of all, there is absolutely nothing wrong with taking all of that vitamin D all at once.
You only took 350,000 IU's. That is NOT an overdose. There are plenty of doctors who treat Vitamin D Deficiency with a dose TWICE that all at once. So the fact that you took that much Vitamin D is fairly insignificant.
Vitamin D CAN make you constipated, and when you are severely constipated, you actually CAN have loose stools because the stool is stuck up high and liquid comes around it. If you were having pain and alternating between constipation and having diarrhea you may still just be constipated.
I especially think this because they did the X Ray and it showed constipation even though you were also having diarrhea. You need to speak to your doctor and ask if a 'Bowel Cleanse' would be OK for you. But you MUST speak to your doctor about this because I don't know your condition and unless it is OK with your doctor, it COULD be harmful.
So, call your doctor and see if that would be safe for you to do. After the X Ray showed constipation, did he recommend that you DO anything about that? Constipation is a good reason to be having left-sided pain!
But can you give me more details about the state of your health and any problems that you had BEFORE all of these bowel problems started?

I took 800 iu of Dry vitamin D (400 last night 400 this morning) and I had soft stool and fecal urgency. Almost missed the restroom, it came on so fast. I have tried Vitamin D (4) times and this happens every time. I don't know what causes it since it is a relatively small amount of Vitamin D. If I take a liquid Vitamin D and build up, will I get used to it? I don't want to wear diapers. Does prescription Vitamin D work better?

This is happening to me . Reason I googled this :( dr did a colonoscopy everything good so now I'm waiting to see a rectal speciList . I have a vit d deffiecieby and on 150000 a week my levels still going down . I stopped saw endrocronolgist and he put me on 6000 a day . When I take it after I eat it runs through me . I finally figured it out there is a relation between me taking vit d and bowel invontinebce . Help as I need the vit d my bones and muscles sore but I can't take vit d
