Vitamin D and Scoliosis by: Kerri Knox, RN-The Immune Queen!
While there doesn't appear to have been many studies on Vitamin D and Scoliosis, there is Definitely a link between Scoliosis and Osteoporosis.
And there are TONS of studies showing that people with Osteoporosis have low Vitamin D Levels.
But it seems that the development of Scoliosis also has a hormonal component as well. Studies talk about low thyroid, low estrogen or estrogen dominance being links to Scoliosis.
But it would certainly make sense that if you HAVE Scoliosis or if you are worried about getting it, then you should optimize your Vitamin D Levels by getting a baseline Vitamin D Level Test then taking enough Vitamin D to bring your level up to between 50 to 80 ng/ml.
Often this is not an easy feat and may require a LOT more Vitamin D than you think that you would need.
