Prescription for Vitamin D
by: Kerri Knox, RN- The Immune Queen!

Hi Joni,

I'm so glad that you wrote me before you filled your prescription. No, it is NOT advised to fill your Prescription For Vitamin D. It would be FAR better if you simply took Vitamin D3 Supplements instead.

You can simply substitute for the same amount as for your prescription, but I would recommend simply taking 10,000 IU's per day because it's easier than trying to figure out dosages when the capsules come in a 5000 IU dosage. Plus, with a level of 9, that's REALLY low and it would be better to be more aggressive. 50,000 IU's per week is actually just a little bit above a high maintenance dosage and will take you a VERY long time to get your level into the optimal range.

But make sure that you also take magnesium. As I outline on my Magnesium and Vitamin D page, magnesium is used up when you take vitamin d and you're likely to experience even WORSE Signs of Magnesium Deficiency than you already are.

YES, I said WORSE. You have MANY Signs of Magnesium Deficiency already:

Fibromyalgia and Magnesium are intimately connected and magnesium deficiency is often the Cause of Heart Palpitations as well as being a cause of high cholesterol too!

But I think that you actually have another deeper problem. I'm fairly certain that your problems stem from Gluten Sensitivity.

Even if you've been tested for Celiac Disease, that is fairly meaningless as Diagnosing Gluten Allergy is quite inaccurate. And a condition called Non Celiac Gluten Intolerance is a common cause of autoimmune disease.

That's a lot to take in right now, so read all the information that I've pointed you to and let me know if you have any questions.

PS: If you want to send me the numbers of your thyroid tests, I'd be happy to take a look at them. Being 'A Little Low' on your thyroid test is like having just a 'Bit of A Broken Bone'.

vit D and RA with FMS
by: Deb T.

I can identify with Joni. I have all the same symptoms on and off.

I am suffering with weakness right now.

I have RA since mid 80's after titanium dental implants interfered with immune system. Dr just told me agyet nearly 25 and all their drugs there is nothing she can do for me. What? Do I roll over and die? No way!

My vit D level was 25 I found out this year. I did the script 50,000iu once a week then I stopped and it dropped back down to 35. I began the script again.

I think now I will get the D3 and take 10,000iu a day and have the blood work every 3 months to check levels.

How does that sound? I also take a Mag Link and get loose stools now so I think I need to back down to 1 cap 2 x a day.

I wish I had the money to do all this testing. I live on disability. I am 56. My hands are crippling again.

Gluten Free doesn't Cost You Anything...

Hi Deb,

It doesn't cost anything extra to try out a Gluten Intolerance Diet and that could be very likely to help you out.
