I get Atrial Fibrillation and I also get Muscle Cramps in my legs and hands. I want to take a magnesium dose to see if it works but I don't want to throw a clot. I also get the cramps in my toes. They curl under.

What's the Right Amount of Magnesium for Kids?
What should be the "target amount" for kids on this?
I have 2 boys who are 15 and 12, and 2 girls who are 3 and 5 years. They all take a multi-vitamin.......is the amount in those enough?
Thanks for your time!

Thanks for your website, I have found it so useful!
I was tested for vit D deficiency a few months ago and my results were 21 ng/ml. My PCP put me on 2000 IU daily, but after some research (mainly on this website!!) I realize this is likely not enough to get my levels up to where they belong.
Last week I started taking 8000 IU daily, which I plan to do for 8 weeks or so and then get retested. I take this along with 1000 mg calcium and 500 mg magnesium every day.
However since increasing the dose I have begun experiencing a lot of constipation...very uncomfortable. I see many recommendations for increasing magnesium to relieve this, but if I am already taking 500 mg of magnesium daily, I am unsure how much more I could safely take w/o overdosing.
If you have any advice I would really appreciate it!

I have been taking magnesium citrate 100 mg twice a day for suspected deficiency. I have high blood pressure, no blockages at all after heart catheterization.
So figure it is something else. Doc has started me on 100 mg.
His contract is not being renewed because he thinks outside the box, I think. I need to know how much I can safely take.
In addition to the BP issue, I have heart spasms that have led into a heart attack once. I also have osteopenia and joint problems besides the heart spasms and also leg and feet cramps.
I take Vit C, Cinnamon, Green Tea, Calcium, potassium and magnesium and 3-6-9 oils.
I don't know if I am low in magnesium or not, but I was high in Vitamin D when tested. In the 60's as the numbers go.

I am a 49 year old woman. I have had a hysteroctomy and am post-menopause. I try to take approx 1500 mg. calcium a day along with a multi-vitamin, and 400 mg. vitamin D. I walk and jog several times each week along with weight bearing exercises and muscle toning.
I weigh approx 120-125 and am 5' 3". I have been having increased Heart Palpitations, especially on the days when I exercise.
I also drink coffee and use artificial sweetener, mostly Stevia. (sometimes Splenda)
How much magnesium should I be taking with my Calcium?
Thank you!

Hi, i live in Argentina, and it is really difficult to find a product with 200 mg of magnesium. The best I have found in the farmacy is a product that has 84 mg of elemental magnesium in it.
Today, i found in a sport store effervecent magnesium with this type of Mg:
magnesium sulfate, magnesium carbonate, magnesium citrate 5 grams with 200 mg of magnesium.
The prospect says that the dose is 1 per day and that it is for Athletes.. i donĀ“t exercice so much...
Is it ok to take 10 gr. per day???
thanks in advanced for your help!!!!!

What would be considered too high a dose of Magnesium? I have been taking 400 mg 3 times daily & there is also 200 mg in the calcium that I take 3 times daily.
I take dexilant 1 time daily,& I don't know if it contains magnesium. So,I am taking suplements to my diet of approx.1800 mg. or more daily. Also, should the magnesium be taken separately from the calcium when it is not in the supplement?
Thanks
