Magnesium and Kidney Disease
by: Kerri Knox, RN- The Immune Queen!

Hi Deb,

Not everyone with 'Kidney Disease' can't take magnesium, but you MUST be in discussion with your doctor about this and if he agrees that magnesium won't be HARMFUL for you, you should get frequent blood testing to make sure that your level is not getting too high.

The danger is not 'just' having kidney disease- magnesium is not harmful or damaging to the kidneys in any way- but the danger is that those with impaired kidney FUNCTION will be unable to get rid of any excess and you have an increased chance of having a Magnesium Overdose.

You MUST speak to your doctor and let him know that you are taking magnesium- not optional!!

But I have a VERY serious question for you Deb. WHY do you have an autoimmune kidney disease? I'll bet it's a question that you asked your doctor or at least were curious about, but doctors won't give you an answer and they'll mumble something about genetics or bad luck.

But there IS a reason- and many researchers believe that ALL autoimmune disease stems from ONE thing- Increased Intestinal Permeability!!

While their may be genetic or luck 'components', that is NOT the CAUSE of autoimmune disease- and it IS controllable. Take a look at the pages that I've shown you and let me know if you have any questions...

Good information!

Thanks so much! I'll talk to my nephrologist about the magnesium. Your information on Increased Intestinal Permeability is helpful.

I was diagnosed with Pernicious Anemia 10 years ago, and I've suspected adrenal fatigue, so this all makes sense.

I've eliminated wheat, soy, dairy, gluten and corn, and I'm working on reducing the stress, so it sounds like I'm on the right track.

Yep, sure does...

Hi Deb,

Yep, it sure does sound like you're on the right track. You're in a tough situation with the kidney issues since you really have to run everything that you do by a nephrologist, ughh.

It makes it tough to do alternative stuff, but keep on with the diet, etc. You may also want to look into doing Omega 3's to help reduce inflammation and INSIST on getting your Vitamin D level checked!!

Vitamin D can help to reduce inflammation and they are finding that it can also help to regulate your gut bacteria- so in the end can help with leaky gut as well as helping to regulated autoimmunity. So there are lots of good reasons for you to take vitamin d.
