One other question I have. Now I was reading a couple of comments from other people and someone stated that they had an anxiety attack after taking vitamin D.I think you said it was because it lowers your magnesium level.I already have an anxiety disorder,is taking Vitamin D going to lower my Magnesium and make my anxiety worse?
Anxiety and Vitamin D... by: Kerri Knox, RN- The Immune Queen!
Hi Robert,
Taking Vitamin D does not CAUSE anxiety disorders. It can and does use magnesium in order to convert into its active form in the blood.
Some people have NO SYMPTOMS from this- particularly if they are magnesium SUFFICIENT. But some people have the EXPERIENCE of magnesium deficiency as:
and some people experience this as anxiety. If they do, it is NOT because they are taking Vitamin D, but because they were ALREADY magnesium deficient and taking the vitamin d made it worse!!
So, if you are worried about anxiety from taking vitamin d, then all you have to do is take magnesium as outlined on the Magnesium Dosage page.
Perhaps the vitamin d deficiency and magnesium deficiency are causing your mood disorder to begin with!! You may find that you feel a lot better resolving your nutritional deficiencies if that is the case.
