Is it normal for the infection to come back after already been treated for it within a years time.

also does this infection cause cancer.

Hi Jessie,

So, you have just simply not given me enough information to be able to answer your question. First of all, did you even get tested again after your treatment to know if it's 'back' or if it was never gone? Just because you GOT treatment doesn't mean that you got rid of the bacteria. Treatment fails about 1/3 of the time. Please see my page on H Pylori Eradication.

Even IF you actually did get rid of it, did you change anything about your health and your immune system to not get it again? In other words, people with strong immune system's will simply not get H pylori because their immune system will fight it off when they get exposed. So, did you change your health in any way since you received treatment? Did you eliminate all sugar and processed foods? Are you ONLY eating whole, real, organic foods as in the book The Healthy Urban Kitchen? If not, then why WOULDN'T you get it back if you haven't done anything differently than when you got it in the first place?

Next, did you test everyone in your family or people that you come into intimate contact with regularly? If not, you may have a relative or partner who is giving it back to you and will continue to do so over and over again until they get treated also.
