It could be any type of intestinal pathogen.. by: Kerri Knox, RN- The Immune Queen!
Hi Jackie,
Wow! That's a complicated situation. I do believe that they correctly identified you as having Celiac Disease since you had a high WBC for 20 years that resolved on a gluten free diet. Your body was treating wheat gluten as an infection!! So, whether or not you have 'true' celiac or 'enough' antibodies- you're body was having a serious immune system response to gluten and that's a good enough reason to stay off of gluten.
So, it COULD be that you have H pylori, but you could also have any number of intestinal pathogens as well- and yes, you can have Celiac Disease AND H pylori AND other intestinal pathogens, there's no rule that says that you can only have one at a time. And intestinal inflammation from gluten sensitivity predisposes you to getting intestinal infections and decreases your immune system, so it's actually more likely that if you have gluten sensitivity then you will ALSO have an intestinal infection.
I HIGHLY suspect that you have SOME form of intestinal pathogen, and it's unlikely that you'll get well unless you get rid of it.
Also, if you are losing so much weight on a gluten free diet, I suspect that you are not getting enough fat. Even with all of your allergies, you should be able to add:
Also, Periodontal Disease is caused by BACTERIA that are harbored in the mouth and may be the reason why you are losing your teeth. I HIGHLY suggest that you take a look at the book Money By the Mouthful as one of the few REAL solutions to Periodontal Disease out there.
