Is Falling Asleep After Meals a Gluten Problems

This is my second input on your site.. My brother, age 49, has issues with eating..he is very thin but when he does eat..shortly there after he MUST go to sleep.

Because of this he never takes a lunch break at work, even though he works long hours. I am thinking that he has problems with gluten as I do. He is coming to visit in Vegas next week and I am going to serve him nothing but GF meals.
Is this a problem with gluten? He does not seem to have any other health issues.

Hi Cindi,

It could either be that or he has an issue with HYPO glycemia or LOW blood sugar- as opposed to diabetes which is a problem with HIGH blood sugar.

If he does have low blood sugar, then he would likely not have a problem falling asleep if he switched to eating mostly fats and proteins during the day and stick with carbs towards the evening.

So, certainly try out a gluten free diet just to see how he responds. But you could also try out one high carb gluten-free meal and the next day try a low carb higher fat gluten-free meal and see how he responds.
