versed in how to treat Vitamin D Deficiency if he told you to take Caltrate Plus to get your levels back to normal. Caltrate has 400 IU's of Vitamin D, this amount would not be sufficient to treat vitamin D deficiency in an INFANT.
In order to appropriately treat your Vitamin D deficiency, you are likely to need from 5000 IU's to 10,000 IU's per day! That's over 10 times the amount that you are taking now!
Fortunately, there is evidence that Vitamin D may have a role in stabilizing blood sugar and just might help you to feel better- but not likely on the dose that you are taking now. So consider getting on a higher dose as outlined in my Vitamin D Deficiency Treatment Page and making sure that you take Vitamin D 3 Supplements and not Vitamin D2 supplements or Prescription Vitamin D (which are Vitamin D2 supplements) in order to do it.
