H Pylori in a 2 Year Old

by Renee

My daughter was adopted from Ethiopia and came home to us at 8 months old. She was just diagnosed with H. Pylori from a stool sample. She has MANY symptoms, but weight gain, depression (seems like this to me, anyway), bloated abdomen (especially after meals), incessant hunger, and irritability are her main symptoms.

Can the H. Pylori cause these symptoms even in a child so young? She just turned 2 last week, so we have been dealing with this for 16 months, and they have tested for all of the normal things, to no avail. I am just hoping that getting rid of the H. Pylori will help her. Any insight?

Thank you

Renee

Hi Renee,

It sure sounds like she will benefit from getting rid of the H pylori. Kids gets bugs too and they can feel terrible from it. I once helped treat a child who was born healthy but soon stopped developing and at 2 years old was unable to walk or talk.

We found a parasite with my Comprehensive Intestinal Pathogen Testing and after getting rid of it, she began walking and talking. Her severe developmental delays and neurologic problems since about 6 months old were a parasite! And she was from a suburban household. Think of the bugs your little one might have got while in Ethiopia.

While getting rid of the H pylori might help, I also suspect that she might be VERY nutrient deficient as well from her time in Ethiopia, her probable neglect and the H pylori causing malabsorption.

So, I would HIGHLY suggest eliminating 100% of ANY processed foods in her diet and learning about 'nutrient dense' foods a la the work of Weston A Price. The book Nourishing Traditions: The Cookbook that Challenges Politically Correct Nutrition and the Diet Dictocrats provides a comprehensive overview of Dr. Price's work along with hundreds of recipes for 'traditional' foods, such as fermented foods, that we westerners just don't often eat much any more but that our ancestors would have eaten daily- for good reason.

I highly suggest that you take a look at it and learn how to provide your little one nutrient dense foods that will get her nourished and prevent her from having lifelong health problems from the malnourishment...
