Why No Level
by: Kerri Knox, RN- The Immune Queen!

Hi Kelly,

I'm curious as to why you don't want to get a level for him right now. You can get a In Home Vitamin D Test as part of Grassroots Health's Vitamin D Research Study, and it only takes one little drop of blood done right in your home.

I really encourage everyone to get their levels checked because I it's important that you actually SEE how deficient he is (and what about YOU).

Until people see their levels, and their kids levels, right there in black and white- they just don't understand how much Vitamin D it takes to get normal levels.

In fact, if you look at the results of the Research study on the Grassroots Health Home Page, at the time of this writing, the average Vitamin D intake is 2300 IU's per day- and a full 53% of people are below the lowest Normal Vitamin D Level of 40 ng/ml.

An average of 2300 IU's is NOT bringing adult's levels up to even the lowest normal levels recommended for good health.

So, if these people are deficient taking 2300 IU's, then what is your son's level when he has only been taking 150 IU's all of his life? I think that this is a question that is important for you to know if you want your son to have the best chance at optimal health for the rest of his life.

So, Kelly, get you and your son a Vitamin D Level and I can help you out when you get the results back.

Likely not enough..

So, 650 IU's, while being quite a bit more than the RDA, is not considered enough by many researchers. Among those are Dr. John Cannell of the Vitamin D Council states,

"Children over the age of 1 year should take 1,000 IU per every 25 pounds of body weight per day, depending on latitude of residence, skin pigmentation, and sun exposure. On the days they are outside in the summer sun, they do not need to take any; in the winter they will need to supplement accordingly."

So, that would put your guy at closer to 1500 IU's per day since he's right about in the middle of those. A really great way for you to get his Vitamin D into him is using a Vitamin D3 Gummies for Kids so that he doesn't have to take pills or eat those gummy things with all of the sugar and preservatives in them- yuck!

Let us know what his levels are. I'd be curious with him on 650 IU's per day already.
