by Kerri

I was told that once you have H Pylori you will always test positive, so how do you know if it is a false positive?

You do not always test positive for H pylori
by: Kerri Knox, RN, The Immune Queen

Anyone who tells you that once you've had H pylori you will always test positive for it has no idea what they are talking about.

I PERSONALLY had H pylori and confirmed eradication with a negative blood test.

HOWEVER, I tested my blood years after I treated it, giving my body time to have the antibodies to H pylori decrease significantly. And some people may always have a high level of ANTIBODIES in their blood for various reasons.

HOWEVER, once you eradicate H pylori, you should use an H Pylori Stool Test if you want to make sure that you do not get a false positive on a BLOOD TEST.

The stool test will show whether you have an ACTIVE H pylori infection or not. The blood test could give a false positive and make it seem like you still have H pylori even if you've eradicated it.

Hence, I do not recommend doing follow-up H pylori blood tests after eradication.
