I have some suspicions... by: Kerri Knox, RN- The Immune Queen!
While vitamin d deficiency can CERTAINLY cause neurologic problems, they are usually not so obvious and severe as the problems that you are having.
Vitamin D Deficiency may be CONTRIBUTING to some of these problems, but I agree that I don't think that it is entirely responsible for all of your symptoms. Unfortunately, the symptoms that MAY be caused by vitamin d deficiency are NOT going to be remedied with a ridiculously low 800 IU's per day.
Please read my page on Vitamin D Deficiency Treatment to see that you SHOULD be taking closer to TEN TIMES that amount to treat your vitamin d deficiency.
I DO have some ideas about what might be going on with you, though, but I'd like more information about what you mean when you say that you have these symptoms when you are 'Not on Medication'. Let me know more about what medications that they put you on and why.
Did you have any medical problems or were you taking any medication before these past few weeks where you are having so many problems?

My tremors have decreased immensly by: Jodi
I too have had the tremors for about the last three months. They were driving me nuts and scaring the heck out of me.
Everything has tested out ok and the only thing other than having some crazy infections going on was my vit d levels being so low.
I upped the dosage to about 10,000 IU's a day (switched from reg D2 to the D3). It has helped soooooo much, I have very few tremors now.
My doctor finally did suggest that they could be caused by anxiety which is entirely possible, who wouldn't freak out. The more I worry the worse they are. Knowing that it isn't something life threatening and trying to calm myself has helped but I think the increase of D3 is an important part of the wellness program.
symptoms by: Angela
I had the exact symptoms, it turned out I had lyme disease, which also lowers your vit D levels, mine are now monitored by my MD and I am on 8000 per day of D3 to bring my levels up, in addition to antibiotics for the lyme.
I have, in fact, had lyme for 15 yrs but it was misdiagnosed as several other issues. All my issues cleared up with the appropriate antibiotics, vit D3 made me feel much better as well. Get a lyme test. Best of luck to you, Angela
Vit. level by: Anonymous
I also was losing my balance, bumping into things, forgetful, muscle spasms in my thighs. Had all kind of test ran and it took about 5 years for me to find the right doctor who would actually listen to me and after tons of blood work and a MRI I was diagnosed with MS. My vit.D was also low. Please don't give up if you know something is not right with your body.
I literally thought I was going crazy and became so depressed because every dr.act like nothing was wrong. I had just graduated nursing school and could barely make it from a to b. Just wish they could have caught it soober.
Neurological symptoms by: Diane
Hi to everyoke who reads this I have hoshimotos, I have been reading a lot about neurological symptoms since I have been having the same problems my arms starting to Jerk also my shoulders started to and I have restless leg syndrom. I SUDDENLY REALISED I STOPPED TAKING MY calcium and wondered if that might be causing the issues I also felt like I was going to fall when I was walking I stand all day at work.
Right away most of the symptoms started to go away since I started to take the calcuim magnesium and zinc combo 850 my a day I thought I had MS or Parkinsons if I wouldn't have done some research and just went to the doctor I'm sure I would have been diagnosed with one of these conditions hoshimotos patients are usually low in selenium, zinc,D3,and a lot of other nutrients that doctors don't test dig do your research don't just listen to your doctor I don't mean to be rude but a lot of them don't care or are just into western medicine. Good health to everyone
