Heart Palpitations and Vitamin D by: Kerri Knox, RN- The Immune Queen!
Hi Kimi,
Yes, vitamin d CAN cause heart palpitations. Please read my page on Magnesium and Vitamin D to find out why you should ALWAYS be taking magnesium when you take vitamin D- and preferably be taking a High Quality Whole Food Multivitamin as well in order to avoid depleting anything else as well.
I don't know why your husband is getting dizzy, but you should BOTH get vitamin d levels done, either through your doctor or though an In Home Vitamin D Test. It's WAY more likely that you aren't taking ENOUGH rather than that your symptoms are from a vitamin D Overdose.
Unless you've been practically drinking that spray, the changes of you taking too much, even with sun exposure are practically nonexistent. So get a level and find out where you guys are at...

that's really interesting as I have been taking 1500 Calcium, with 1000 Vit D3 due to osteopenia... I have been having heart papitations and dizziness for months now. Could that be too much for me?
Not getting too much by: Kerri Knox, RN- The Immune Queen!
Here's what I wrote to the previous person in the thread,
"Yes, vitamin d CAN cause heart palpitations. I also told her that unless she was drinking bottles of vitamin d that it's unlikely that she's taking too much. So, I'm not sure why you would think that you are taking too much from the previous post.
Please read my page on Vitamin D Requirements to see why you are taking about 1/5 of what you actually need.

More starnge symptoms..... by: Anonymous
So, found out I had an insufficiency level 23 of Vit. D.
Started getting heart palpitations all day every day after I began taking 1000 IU a day of Vit. D. (never had them in my life before this) I read about your section on Magnesium deficiency. After several months of messing with the dosage of both Magnesium & Calcium (600 mg a day of both) I have found relief from the heart palps for 4 days now. :O) BUT! Starting yesterday I began getting very light-headed....and pretty much most of the day. As well as some funny facial numbness-like feelings in my jaw and forehead areas....very strange.
My question is.....should I be worried? I did go to the doctor for the light headed-ness and he couldn't see that there was anything wrong with me. Even had an ECG done. It seems I have found the right dosage for the palps but now I have these other symptoms (which I have had before infrequently during my Vit D. therapy)..now, it is just more pronounced. So, am I taking too much of the Mag? Or, are those yet more symptoms of Mag deficiency that I should be treating?? Should I continue at the 600mg a day level? Or drop it down? Or go up??? ugh....
Very dizzy (not fall down or pass out dizzy, just oddly spacey and funny headed feeling) and very confused as what to do next. But, cannot tell you how amazing it feels to be free of those palps...for now, anyway!! :O)
PS- I believe Magnesium IS amazing and share your site with friends & family!!!!
